Horses 101 Program
2026
Curious about horses but not sure where to begin?
This relaxed, small-group workshop gives you hands-on experience in a safe and welcoming environment.
No horse experience is required.
Learn to understand horses, care for them and be safe around them
For ages 8 to 15 (with parent/guardian)
Love horses? Horses 101 gives you the chance to learn what it really takes to care for and work with a horse, without riding.
Through hands-on activities with horses, you’ll learn how to:
- Safely approach, catch and lead a horse
- Groom and care for a horse
- Identify basic horse body parts and equipment
- Understand what a horse is saying through its ears, eyes, body and movement
- Learn about feeding, water, hoof care and everyday horse needs
- Build confidence while learning to work with a horse calmly and respectfully
This is about more than learning horse skills. It’s about learning to observe, communicate and make good decisions around horses.
No previous horse experience is required.
Parent Participation Required
A parent or guardian must accompany children throughout the program. Parents are welcome to learn alongside their child and participate in the hands-on activities.
Come learn about horses together!
This program is offered over 3-days or one half-day session.
